Troy Hoang (2021-2022 Basketball Digital Media Fellow) assigned me the task of creating a Black History Month graphic for the UC Davis Men's Basketball social pages (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook).
He sent me a few examples that he liked (see below) to give me an idea of what he was looking for, and supplied me a list of notable figures that he believed would be the best ones to showcase in the design.
After doing extensive research into which other figures I should include in the graphic, I began designing. The process took a bit longer than expected, primarily because I was trying to figure out how to fit in as many people as possible into the phrase "Black History Month" without it starting to look too cluttered, or having it turn into more of a messy collage.
Eventually, I managed to create the final product (see below image) and felt confident that it was not only a good and clean design, but that it felt respectful and was rightfully honoring these people.
